Minutes of the A. G. M., held at the Club premises
Monday 18th. January, 1988
The meeting opened at 20-00 hours with 38 members plus the President.

The minutes of the last A. G. M. held on Monday 19th January, 1987 were read by the Secretary G4PDZ. G1YFT proposed, G4OOS seconded the minutes be accepted, all agreed.

No matters arising.

The chairman G4ITP opened his report by stating that 1987 had been very successful with open meetings and ideas put forward, he was sorry some critisms were stated on 2 metres and in the pub rather than bringing them to the notice of the committee, he was aware of a very small minority harbouring ill will.
Taff offered thanks to G3TQF for producing some very interesting topics in the lecture programme throughout the year.
Many tools had been acquired for the use of the members but unfortunately the Daiwa keyer is still missing, it would be gratifying to see its return. Thanks to LRS members who again helped to make the Leicester Show a success especially to Mick G4KKS for the Bring and Buy stand. G0AIZ proposed G0FZE seconded acceptance of the chairmans report. -
The treasurer G4JDI said the financial report was the usual run through, the Committee had deliberated at great length on whether to recommend an increase in subscriptions, but could not come down. on one side or the other it was agreed to let the members decide.
The annual report was then presented to the members. G6BAI stated that the subs should go up if they did not meet all the running costs, G4KKS agreed, G1YEZ said that 25 pence per week was nothing for the facilities received by the members, G4LRO interrupted by saying the subs were sufficient and G4WYN agreed by stating the club should be run On total income not just the Subs. On a show of hands it was agreed to leave the annual subscription at six pounds.
G8VQM proposed, G1XYG seconded acceptance of the report. -
The Secretary opened his report by stating 1988 is the 75th Anniversary of the foundation of LRS and hoped to celebrate in an appropriate way later in the year.
A new style QSL card had been sought and approved along with a new membership certificate following requests from a few members requiring an appropriate record of their membership.
The secretary on behalf of the committee offered thanks to G4LRO Roger and his trusty band of stalwarts in making the long discussed workshop possible. Following a note in the suggestion box the committee extended the clubs membership of RSGB to include a copy of Radio Communication and at the same time to subscribe to Q.S.T.
The committee was highly honoured to be associated with the celebration Of the 60th anniversary of having obtained a Radio Amateur licence by Our President G5UM.
G0AIZ proposed G4JPO seconded acceptance of Secretary's report. -

Election of Committee Members
Eleven members were proposed and seconded, after a paper vote the following were elected:-
G4WYN, G3TQF, G4OOS, G0AIZ and G1SAL -
Any other business
G4KKS wished to know if it was possible to have proper cards issued at the next AGM for members.
The committee agreed to look into it.
G3PWG proposed a vote of thanks to the committee for their work over the past year. G4ZTD proposed G1SAL seconded a motion to reduce Subs to half price for the unemployed on production of a UB40. On a show of hands 18 voted for 10 against, 6 abstained therefore proposal carried with rider for members to pay full amount when again employed.
G4LRO asked why purchase a 2 Mtr and Satellite module for the FT726 when we already own a 2 Metre set. G3TQF replied the new modules were ideal for transverting to 23 cms etc
The President thanked all for attending before bringing the meeting to a close.
