Annual General Meeting

Minutes of Annual General Meeting of Leicester Radio Society held at club house January 10th. 1977.

With 31 members present the Chairman opened the meeting at 8-15pm. Apologies were received from G3UGA, and G3XKX.

The minutes of the last years A.G.M. were read and accepted as a true record of the proceedings.

Chairmans report. The Chairman said there had been no Leisure exhibition in l976 also the Committee had decided against taking, part in the l976 Abbey Park show. The ARRA exhibition had taken place once again in October with G3XKX organizing the talk-in stations which used LRS callsign. The club had done quite well in hf. NFD. coming 25th there had been changes in the rules which had not helped us, the VHF NFD. contest had gone well, he himself being unable to take part. LRS came llth overall and due to fine efforts by G3TQF and G8BMF. come 7th. On 1296 mhz. The committee had run a autumn programme but he felt l976 had not been a very active year for the club. He concluded that due to other commitments, he wished to resign from the Office of Chairman for the coming year.

Secretarys report. The Secretary began his report by saying he did not agree with the Chairman that 1976 had not been very active for the club, he then ran through events of the past year.

Dec. Talk 'first attempts at UHF'

The Mcc. Contest was held on Dec. 4th and 5th, but due to a misunderstandings and not much interest in this, LRS did not enter this contest. The Secretary continued, he felt that in any event, contest or exhibition, members who wished the club to take part should form a group, elect a manager and do it. It was not fair for people to say lets enter something and leave all the work to the Committee and the same few members who always save us on the day. The Secretary concluded by saying that due to his job taking him away from Leicester for periods throughout the year, he had not been able to attend LRS. meetings on occasion and as this would continue he wished to resign from the office of Secretary.

Treasurers report. The Treasurer said he was pleased to be able to report an exceptionally good year for 1976, as shown in the balance sheet, subscriptions totalled £95. from 32 paid up members, this includes some subs from the previous year and thanks to the increase agreed last year, has all but covered the expenditure for the year. In addition the usual income from the tea and equipment sales, some members have run succession raffles. The £18-40. donations are as a result of members selling equipment at the club and donating a good proportion of the sale to the Club funds. You will no doubt recall that last year he mentioned a hoped for donation from the ARRE. He said he was pleased to report that during August he received a cheque for £25 from them in appreciation of the clubs assistance at the Granby Halls exhibition.

The Treasurer concluded by saying that expenditure did not rise as sharply as was expected due to inflation, but he must add a note of Warning, every indication was that costs will rise, how much we did not know in 1977 and finally to sound like a politician, with a profit of £84, for the year and a balance of £l72 we can look to the future with cautious optimisum.

G4CPY proposed that the Treasurers report be accepted, this was seconded by G3MYI, after a show of hands this was accepted by the meeting.

G8BMF. proposed Ian G8JGP for office of Chairman and G8EEO seconded this.
G4CPY proposed. Harry G4ERT for office of Secretary and G8BOA seconded this
G8BMF agreed to continue in the office of Treasurer.
these proposals were put to a vote by show of hands and passed 100% by the meetinge

Committee members election

G8KUK, G4CWY, G3PBC, G3TQF, G8EEO and Taffy were elected to Committee for the year 1977

from this point the person taking these minute notes was no longer Secretary HI.
