Frank asked if any other member had obtained an estimate for laying car park, none was forthcoming so Frank produced three such estimates, one from Ellingworth Plant Ltd for £1430, one from Littlejohn Landscapes for £1380 and one from J. W. Walsh for £835, Roger protested saying that he could purchase the material from Cliffe Hill Granite for £3.56 per ton and could hire a machine for two days for £250 making a total of £740 but could not get it in writing, Frank said the price stated was the collected price and delivery would be extra, at this stage Roger demanded it should be minuted he could get the material at £3.56 per ton delivered.
Frank stated as he had an interest in the estimates he would take no further part in the discussion and would not vote on the outcome.
Tony proposed that the committee accept the lowest tender, Paul seconded the proposal. All those voting voted in favour with the exception of Roger, who abstained.
Frank stated he had invited Joan Heathershaw President of the RSGB to the official opening, Joan was pleased to accept.
