LEICESTER RADIO SOCIETY

AGM 29TH JAN 2018

Apologies: Colin M6KCX, Keith G6UBP, Dave G7DWC, Tom Christmas, Chris G0WUS, Chris G0WBC, Russell

Present committee members

Phil Pete Mike Alex John Sandra Tony Trevor

20 members present

There were no nominations for trophies this year

Pete opened the meeting and last year’s AGM was read through and accepted,

Electrical work was discussed and it was noted all were pleased with the work and how much was spent.

The car park resurface was a great asset to the club and we only had to pay for one lot of gravel the rest was paid for by Mr Kinch as a donation to the club.

Kitchen ceiling had been done tidying up of club rooms and storage container all the events we have taken part in over the last 12 months and all the fund raising that we have done for club funds and ongoing jobs,

Mike spoke to the members about the accounts and a account sheet was handed out so we could all see the incomings and out goings Tony proposed and Trevor seconded the accounts

Water looked as if it had gone up a lot but it was only because they had made a mistake last year and caught up with us this time,

We are still paying a gas standing charge without using any gas costing us 21p a day

Trevor was asking why this was and should we have it disconnected Pete said no because we would be having fires and a boiler put in at some point.

Also we have 2 water metres this was questioned and it would cost us more to have one taken out and all the re piping to 1 meter

Insurance has gone down because Mike had renegotiated the renewal dropping the value of the porta cabin / lecture room,

Mike thanked Phil for doing such a good job taking over the treasures position while he had been ill

Over the last 12 months the membership had dropped

Trevor asked about the cost of replacing the lecture room and if we should reduce further the insurance value, it was thought to leave it as it is for now but next time insurance due we would have a look.

Jim G4DZL asked for a progress report on works ongoing

Pete spoke again:

Kitchen a whole refurbishment new floor new units new cooker and hob and replace the kitchen window costs around £1500

To remove wall from Morse room making it into a diner £200

To fit a gas fire in there £?

Toilet on hold till kitchen and diner done

We would need help from the club members

Car park wants weed killing and also another lot of gravel putting down £300

the members were asked if they had any questions and there were none

Membership fee

it was suggested £60 full member £45 concessions

both in 2 x payments

it was put to the membership and there were concerns from Dave G0SAM and Lorraine, it was also mentioned about scrapping concessions all together so we all pay the same but this would need for us to have a EGM as it states in the constitution that the concessions be ½ the full rate so it was decided full membership would be £60 paid in full or 2x payments of £30 first end of January and second at end of June with concessions £30 per year in full of 2x payments £15 first end of Jan second end of June.

There was a vote on this and 19 in favour 1 abstain 1 disagree.

So it was passed.

Ordinary members

Tony

Alex G8FCQ

John M0CQV

We were all asked if we would like to keep our positions on the committee and all said yes with the exception of Chris and John new committee members.

Trevor hillier said he would like to stay on the committee again this year but it was pointed out to him that he only attended 2 committee meetings during 2017 and had not paid his subs for the year 2017.

At this point Trevor left the meeting shouting as he went

so a vote was called for to agree the new committee and the result

was 19 for 4 against

so the new committee were installed / carried forward.

There were no written motions.

Lorraine asked once the kitchen diner was done would food be allowed in lecture room the answer was yes it would.

It would be nice to get kitchen diner done for April for the propagation group meeting.

Mark Burrows our RSGB rep will be in touch about a talk in the next month or so.

Maybe a fox hunt could be arranged for the summer months

Tony asked if every one was happy with kitchen prices and it was thought to

leave them as they are.

The meeting closed at 21.15
