LEICESTER RADIO SOCIETY
OPEN MEETING NOTES MONDAY 8TH JULY

Chris opened the meeting at 19.46
With a round up of the work still ongoing
Kitchen nearly done Drawer pack and hinges are needed and the stockist is short on the hinges
we will get them as soon as in stock
water heater to be fitted when the wall cupboard is fitted.

Toilet 90% done just finishing touches

VHF shack looking good work tops to be varnished and carpet tiles to be put down
a couple of weeks away from completion,

Thanks were given to all that had helped with all the jobs and more help asked for
down stairs still ongoing gardening jobs also need tackling hedges weeding car park
it is thought a job day would be arranged.

All club members were asked to keep the club tidy

Front door is needed the door we have is rotten
a club member asked if we could ask the council to do this job as it is there building
but it was thought maybe not to ask them keep under the radar and do it ourselves.

We are in the process of changing the holders of club call signs to active members of the club,

it was noted we have had a few persons visiting the club on a regular basis who were not members of the club
and letters were drafted and sent to these persons as the ruling is 2 visits per year.


Subs all members were asked to make sure any out standing subs were paid up.

The membership were asked about a budget for a new door and £350 or less was agreed,

QSL cards for GB5EHL were needed and the cost is thought to be about £50
Mike asked the membership for help operating the station from 1st - 28th as there had not been much interest

IOTA contest last weekend of July members were asked to help we won our section last year and we are wanting to do well again this year
and also have gb5ehl running after the end of contest for a few hours on last day

The rsgb is running a new contest qso party and mike hopes to run a workshop to help understand how the contest works

Polly asked about the path outside and lighting when is it going to be finished
this was noted and added to works ongoing list

Chris asked the membership about training and who would like to help with a foundation course
Mike said he was happy to help train the trainers and ease people into it Pete asked about a schedule of training and donated a laptop just for the training team.
Pete and Sandra both offered there help
Tony offered to run the kitchen on training nights,

Training nights to be arranged,

Pete also asked maybe other clubs could help with training.
to do this we could advertise it on the news and also speak to our rsgb reps for help.

Mike spoke about the finances and treasurers report as end of may 2019 attached
and he also spoke about the years of neglect within the club and now we are having to catch up with all these jobs so our expenditure is high on materials but all labour has been donated free by members who have given there time and in many cases had not asked for payment for materials they had bought.
Questions were asked for there were no comments or questions.

The club is doing very well in the contests uhf and vhf
and hf the club call signs are all being used as much as possible and the club name getting out there

It was noted that it would be great to hear more members on and all points are good
please call in if you hear club members on.
